Who are you?
I am a sociologist focused on working life, CSR and sustainable production and consumption. I am Associate Head of School for Research in the School for Strategy and Leadership, and an Associate in the Centre for Business in Society. My current projects are on sustainable agricultural supply chains, particularly cut-flowers, and certification of working practices. Research Inspired Teaching is a passion, which I am currently involved in developing FBL pilots and initiatives for, as well as writing on.
Something else more personal about yourself?
I’m a Lancashire Lass, who enjoys the outdoors and loves travel. Fortunately my research and work has taken me many interesting places, including flower farms in Kenya on Valentines last year. I’ve been gardening and ‘growing my own’ more in lockdown, but not yet much to show for it! I remain hopeful.
Something you have learnt recently?
Something you would like to learn over the next few weeks or months?
More about the impact of COVID-19 on the complex supply chains for our agricultural goods and how they might be made more resilient. And how to keep my tomato plants alive.
